Welcome to the Wesley College Old Boys Union in Canada.
Our Story
The OBU of Wesley College, Canada was formally established in 2022. Our objective is to bring together Wesleyite's of all ages and to reminisce in the values and traditions instilled in us by our Alma Mater. In doing so, we are looking to create stronger bonds between our past students so that they may support one another, and the next generation arriving in Canada.
Our Roots
Wesley College was founded on March 2, 1874 by Rev. Daniel Henry Pereira in Pettah, Colombo, Sri Lanka, before relocating in 1905 under Rev. Henry Highfield. Pereira, a gifted teacher and naturalist, dedicated his life to education and scientific study. Highfield, arriving in 1895, spearheaded the move to a larger campus, raising funds tirelessly to establish the modern school. Influential educators like Charles Peter Dias and W.E. Mack shaped early academic standards. Wesley grew into a respected institution, commemorating Pereira annually. Its history intertwines faith, education, and reform, leaving a legacy of service and scholarship.
